Some
Facts About Vaastu
& Fengshui
This Indian system is related to
land, building and construction, based on the standards of
cosmology. Astro- logy, cardinal directions,
cosmic energies, colours and basic elements impart great
influence on our physical and
mental states. This ultimately shapes our fortunes, indirectly.
Every science or art has its own mythology, so it is with Vaastushastra.
Vaastushastra has a time-honoured antiquity and lots of references
to it are found in the Vedas and Agama literature.
Vaastushastra
has two main branches, DEVA SHILPA
and MANAV SHILPA. Devashilpa is concerned with the construction
of the Devalaya ( religious place ), sculpture etc. According
to the Agamas, temples also behave and live
like living beings. The top of the temple signifies head, the
garbhagraha is the neck , the mandapa is the stomach, the prakaram
walls are the feet, the deity or Idol is the JIVA (soul)
etc.
In MANAV SHILPA, any kind
of building is denoted. This can be a small apartment or
dwelling place, hotels, factories, hospitals, corporate offices,
shopping complexes, housing complexes and towns. Planning
for all of these is considered MANAV SHILPA. With the help
of Vaastushastra, such buildings can enhance the prosperity, fortune,
potentiality, and harmony of the people living
and working in them. For example, in an office having to do with
Information Technology or communication systems, if the north
of the building is under bad influence, the progress
and smooth working of the company is disturbed. In a factory, if
the north - east area is given a malefic influence by
placing heavy loads or machines, generators, boilers,
heaters, furnaces etc. there, and other factors
are also found to be disturbing, the progress of such factory
may be halted. There are hundreds of mistakes or ignorant actions
that can lead a company or organi- zation into failure. Prudent guidance
through Vaastu or astro- logical architecture can avert such
trouble in some situations and promise successful growth.
Thus, it becomes obvious
that a building is made of not simply cement and
bricks, it interacts with cardinal directions, basic
elements, cosmic energies and astrology. Perfection
in these arrangements brings good fortune, prosperity,
peace of mind, good health and success to the people belonging
to the building.
Feng - Shui
is an about 3000 -- 4000 years old Chinese art
of designing and beautifying a building or
place. It is based on Intuition, the Yin
and Yang principle, directions (north, south, east, west
etc.), five basic elements ( water, fire, metal, wood and earth),
eight trig rams, astrology, the surroundings, as well as CHI,
the cosmic energy. CHI, when given
the red carpet welcome in a building, provides great blessings and
energy. The place under consideration can
be a hotel, house, housing complex or apartment, showroom or
shopping complex, hotel, nurs- ing home, theatre, office, factory , stadium
or a religious place. The auspicious
and beneficial influence of CHI
helps us in realising our aspirations.
Indian Vastushastra (astrological
architecture and decoration) is highly effective for the selection of land,
construction and deco- ration of a building. It is essential even
before commencing the construction. If the building is
already const- rcted and there is no scope for
renovations, Feng - Shui is a fabulous help
in the rectification of the malefic effects
of our ignorance. Because in Feng-Shui there
is tremendous scope for metaphysical decoration
of CHI in any situation.
Thus the synergetic effect of Vastushastra
and Feng -Shui gives spectacular results
in the accomplishment and fulfillment of our aspirations. |
